SWR Wiki Removal
This is where I will explain the reasons behind the removal of the SWR wiki.
First, my point of view.
1) I’m paying for Mizuumi out of my own pocket. Therefore, I can do what I want with the site. I do not like SWR, and I do not owe its fans anything. If I do not want to host it, then it is completely my right to remove it.
2) Several members of the community have already made backups of the site and have already started to move it to another host, just like the IRC channel was. I simply don’t want to be associated with SWR any further.
Next, the hand-wringing.
“Please keep the wiki up!” – No. You guys seem to think I have some kind of obligation to keep running wikis for a game I don’t play for a terrible community full of trolls, ingrates, and children.
“We’re not all terrible!” – No, you guys aren’t all terrible. Unfortunately, most of you are and I don’t feel like sifting through endless chaff to find tolerable people to game with. Most of the more mature SWR players are still on Mizuumi anyways.
“Where will we go?!” – It’s the Internet. Mizuumi is hardly a site that matters in the long run. I didn’t understand the bitching when I kicked the IRC channel out either; there’s a million networks out there for people to use, and a million wiki sites for people to throw the SWR info onto. Most of that info isn’t even updated for Soku. The wiki was an embarrassment.
“Why did you take so long to decide on this?” – Some people in the community talked me out of outright removing the wiki and leaving the fanbase to fend for themselves. This is the fairest way I can think of and after this I don’t expect to hear from anyone of you ever again. If you couldn’t get your act together in the time allotted then that’s too bad.
“You don’t play half the games you have wikis for, why didn’t you take those down?” – You probably don’t remember the ill-fated Monster, Big Bang Beat, and Million Knights Vermillion wikis. I took those down because the games were defunct and the wikis were no longer needed. For the games up there that I don’t play but still host for, I have some level of respect for the game itself or the playerbase. In the case of SWR, I have neither.
And now, the rage/crying.
“u mad?” – Never heard this one before!
“You’re some kind of drama queen/elitist who enjoys this attention!” – Not really. Take your information and go. Don’t bother me anymore, I really don’t want to hear about it.
“You’re a butthurt faggot!” – Partially, yeah. SWR and Soku were not what I expected from the company that brought us fantastic fighters like EFZ and IaMP. They are not the same group they were back then and it’s not looking like they’ll ever be that way again because there’s too much easy money in Touhou fandom.
“LOL you’re so butthurt LOL” – Okay. The wiki’s still going to be removed, and it’s because most of the SWR fandom is full of childish attitudes like this one. Instead of trying to coexist with the IaMP playerbase, the SWR playerbase has continually trolled and mocked what they perceived to be tourneyfags for liking a different game. People can troll all they want when they’re not on the receiving end but I highly doubt they would want to deal with the retardation themselves if they switched roles.
“LOL we won against the tourneyfags!” – Not sure what you won, but okay. If anything, it’s the SWR players that have caused more trouble than anything else. People were perfectly fine coming to Mizuumi to find games and to use the wiki, and I was fine with hosting. It was when the trolling, ingratitude, and flagrant disrespect came up that I began questioning why I was even doing this to begin with. The IRC channel was the first to go and seeing some of the posts on various Touhou forums about this decision shows exactly how ungrateful people were for my resources spent.
“You expected to get something out of this? You’re an idiot.” – I enjoy hosting wikis for the other games because I believe those games deserve a chance and a well-documented resource for interested parties. I did this for personal satisfaction. I never expected any kind of monetary gain (and there hasn’t been any) nor praise. However, I do expect at least some level of mutual respect, and that is exactly what I did not receive.
“You want gratitude? LOL we’ll just use some other site not run by a gigantic tool” – Okay. Take your information and go.
“You’re an asshole!” – If I was truly an asshole I would’ve deleted it without giving anyone a chance to get backups. I could’ve done so at any time and I came very close twice, but I was talked out of it by other people I respected in the SWR community (there are some, believe it or not).
Finally, some random questions.
“Do you like BlazBlue?” – No. I did entertain the idea of making a wiki for it but seeing how well SWR’s wiki went that wouldn’t be a good idea.
“Could you let us back up the filedump?” – Yes. The filedump is actually supposed to be accessible after the wiki’s removal.
Please post your trolls in the comments and I will address them when I have time. Also I’m stalking various Internet forums so I will address posts I see there too.

You should probably take down all your wikis. Seriously, this might be news to you, but fighting games exist for one specific demographic only – douchebags who wish they could fight in real life. But if you must persist, you should make a real wiki for a real game like Street Fighter 4.

I find this to be an unfortunate turn of events, to be sure. Well, thanks for putting up with the more unruly members of our community for so long. Could you please restore access to the filedump, so that we can back that up too?

I’m just a casual SWR/UNL player, and also a rational person. While I’m sad about the removal, I want to say that I can appreciate your reasons for it, and thank you for hosting the wiki until now.

Countdown till AH2-PS2 removal…tick tock. But yeah I don’t get all the whining we have the wiki up on http://hisouten.koumakan.jp/wiki/Main_Page, and we got a new irc channel with p. much the same players as before.

I just create this account to say this :
Thanks. I had been frequently using the wikis when i was still playing the game. It is unfortunate to have you had to close the wiki.
